Blog 1: Intro

Welcome to Strange Wonders, the very first blog by The Odd Mouse Shoppe.

Hi, my name is Melissa, or you can call me Mel for short. I love trying to make items that haven’t been made yet, usually through sculpting. I draw inspiration from films, fandoms, theme parks and niche pockets in pop culture. Halloween is my favorite holiday because of the creativity and uniqueness rules the day, well month really. You can be anything, and it’s welcomed, I usually made my own costumes, had handmade outfits made by my mom. That is what pushed me to try to think outside the box, we didn’t have the internet then and I just aged myself but that’s okay. Ha! That’s how far back I’ve been thinking outside the box, life would be boring if I didn’t. When creating anything, it can be cute, but it needs a little bit of grit to even out. When sculpting a creation, I love adding details from scrapes, dents, dry brushed effects to additional details on top. There is something magical when my eye wonders all over an art piece whether its hand drawn or handmade.  In future blogs, I wish to showcase an item and write about the creation process.
